What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website may store on your device to remember something across page loads. Cookies are used across the web for both essential and non-essential purposes; the distinction matters under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), which govern how UK websites may set and read cookies.
What CA Info sets
CA Info is a static publication. It does not use first-party analytics, marketing, session-recording, or advertising cookies. It does not embed third-party scripts that set cookies of their own. The only cookies that may be set through the site are strictly necessary functional cookies used by the underlying hosting infrastructure to serve pages correctly — for example a load-balancer session identifier — and these are covered by the "strictly necessary" exemption in PECR, so no consent banner is required for them.
What we deliberately do not use
- Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible, Fathom, or any equivalent web-analytics platform.
- Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter Pixel, Reddit Pixel, TikTok Pixel or any advertising retargeting mechanism.
- Session-recording tools such as Hotjar, FullStory or Microsoft Clarity.
- Advertising-network cookies of any kind.
- Fingerprinting or device-identification scripts.
The absence of these tools is deliberate. The site does not sell inventory to advertisers, does not participate in affiliate programmes with any gambling operator, and has no commercial reason to build a profile of any visitor. Editorial independence is easier to sustain when the tooling stops depending on tracking data.
Browser-level cookie controls
All major browsers offer built-in cookie controls. You can block or delete cookies at any time via your browser settings without affecting your ability to read CA Info — because the site does not depend on cookies for its content. If you use a privacy-focused browser such as Firefox with Enhanced Tracking Protection, Brave, or Safari with Intelligent Tracking Prevention, no configuration change is needed to browse this site with default protections in place.
Changes to this policy
If CA Info ever changes its cookie practice — for example, by introducing a privacy-preserving analytics tool — this page will be updated with a dated change entry and a corresponding update to the privacy policy. Any change that requires user consent will be preceded by a clear consent mechanism in line with PECR and the ICO's published guidance.
